Lyrics

She was pretty like them flowers
Like them flowers at the store
The ones they come in many colors
And they keep them by the door
She smelled pretty like them too
Like them flowers red and blue
She smelled pretty, like I said
She smelled pretty, now she’s dead

‘Cause one night when he was drunk
He blew her head off with his gun
Wiped the pretty from her face
Put a big hole in its place
She still smelled pretty for a while
But after a couple days went by
She started stinking like a skunk
And so he put her in the trunk

The two of them drove down the highway
Past the river, to the bay
And there he threw her in the water
And he hoped no one would find her
Drove back home by his own self
Grabbed the liquor from the shelf
Wiped the memory from his brain
Cleaned his gun and washed the stain

But the detectives they’re not stupid
Found her floating, dead and bloated
They came knocking, asked about her
Woke him from his drunken stupor
They locked him up at Men’s Central
With all the riff-raff and the mentals
He saw a judge, wore a bow-tie
Told him it was his turn to die

They made him wait inside his cell
The line is long to get to hell
Gave him some time to give a thought
‘bout what he did and got him caught
And then it hit him like a brick
After thinking for many hours
Don’t get tangled with no chick
That looks and smells like pretty flowers

She was pretty like them flowers
Like them flowers at the store
The ones they come in many colors
And they keep them by the door
She smelled pretty like them too
Like them flowers red and blue
She smelled pretty, like I said
She smelled pretty, now she’s dead
